Game 1:
The New York Mets have taken game 1 of their double header versus the Atlanta Braves by a score of 4-2. Jacob deGrom came out to play today. Jake pitched 5 innings of no run ball while striking out 6. His one hit allowed was a terribly hit ball by Dom Smith in left field. For Atlanta, Kyle Muller did everything he could in this one, going toe to toe with deGrom allowing 1 run over 4 strong innings. Muller's only run given up was on a wild pitch while his only hit given up was once again a terribly fielded fly ball that dropped. Ozzie Ablies had a 2 run home run for Atlanta. The big hit of the game came via Mets outfielder Dom Smith who had a bases clearing double. Edwin Díaz got another save for New York pitching a perfect 1-2-3 inning.
Game 2:
Game 2 of this twin bill was a different story for New York as they got shutout by Atlanta 1-0. Jerad Eickhoff did everything he could in this one going 4 scoreless innings escaping a bases loaded 1 out jam in the first inning. Ian Anderson was excellent for the Braves going 5 innings allowing 0 runs. The only run in this game was a 110+ MPH home run hit by Ronald Acuña Jr. off of Mets pitcher Miguel Castro. Baserunning hurt the Mets in the 6th inning as Mets infielder Jose Peraza ran to third on a groundball hit to Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson when he could have just stayed at second. The next pitch Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was caught stealing which ended the Mets hopes at tying the game in the sixth. The Mets had life in the bottom of the 7th inning facing Braves closer Will Smith curtosey of back to back singles by Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith which was followed by a James McCann hit by pitch with only one out. Yet, Kevin Pillar would eventually line out to third baseman Austin Riley and pinch hitter Brandon Drury popped out to second baseman Ozzie Albies to end this one. The win went to Ian Anderson while the loss went to Miguel Castro. The save went to Will Smith. Looking at tomorrow's matchup, the Mets will throw out Marcus Stroman who will be versing Charlie Morton in the third game of this four game set. That game will be played at 7:10 PM.
