Game 4: 9/13/21, 2:05 PM (Yankees win 6-5)
What a gutsy win! Yanks come back and score 6 unanswered and get off to a good start on this soft schedule. Luis Gil wasn’t great but I tip my hat to him for getting through a rocky 1st inning and settling down and giving the Yanks some needed length. He would give up 4 quicks runs in the 1st from two 2-run homers but bounced back only allowing 1 other run through the next 5 innings. He kept them in the game when it looked like one of those long blowouts, his slider was extremely sharp and had 13 swing and misses on it. New York only had 1 hit through 5 innings and it was a bunt single by Joey Gallo. LeMahieu put them on the board with a sac fly in the 6th, an inning later Gallo would go yard to cut it to a 5-2 deficit. In the 8th, Yankees were able to draw 2 walks with 2 outs and bring up Judge as the tying run. Judge ultimately would deliver one of the most clutch hits of the season with a monster 3-run bomb and would receive MVP chants. He won’t win MVP but it’s likely he finishes top 5 definitely as he’s having an incredible season and cutting down on the strikeouts. This game would go to extra innings tied at 5 until the bottom of the 10th, the ghost runner being Gleyber Torres would score on an RBI single down the line by Gary Sanchez who actually didn’t start this game but pinch hit in the 7th. What a win. The quartet of Heaney (shockingly), Abreu, Chapman, and Holmes was completely lights out. Holmes got the win and Ralph Garza Jr took the loss.

My thoughts:
Much much needed win as the Yankees come back down 5-0 behind some timely homers and some great at bats. It just felt like the at bats got much better as the game went on so putting runs on the board just felt like it was coming sooner than later. Important stretch of games against very weak teams. Need to capitalize.
What’s next?
The Twins head back home to welcome in the Cleveland Indians for a 3 game set. The Yanks take a short flight to Baltimore, to take on the O’s in bird land. Yanks will send ace Gerrit Cole for game 1 as this series is a must sweep.
